#TBT #SwipeLeft Humble beginnings: This September 1971 Ebony Magazine story spotlights the newly formed CBC and their effort to hire caucus staff. * On June 18, 1971, the CBC hosted a national banquet in Washington, DC, and achieved the goal of raising funds needed to hire caucus researchers and administrators who could support the members’ personal office staffs. 2,600 people attended the banquet and raised a sum of almost $300,000, 80 percent of which was donated by African Americans. * At the time, it was “the biggest fund-raising function ever put on by blacks in America.” Keynote speaker Ossie Davis declared the event “a historic occasion, a moment we have dreamed and worked and fought for longer than we ourselves have been alive.”

Howard University Association of Black Journalists, Black History Month Series

As social media manager for the Howard University Association of Black Journalists, I tweeted a black history fact daily throughout Black History Month. I used Hootsuite to schedule and manage these tweets. This generated a 186 percent increase in engagement for the @HUABJ account. Here are some sample posts.
